National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Awards General Dynamics High Performance Computing and Communications Contract

by Government Contractors Editorial Team / Thursday, July 19, 2018 / Published in Civilian, Federal, General Dynamics Corporation, General Dynamics Information Technology, IDIQ, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

10-year, $553 million contract will enable GDIT to continue supporting NOAA supercomputers used for research and development.

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) will continue its support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Research and Development High Performance Computing System (R&D HPCS). NOAA awarded CSRA LLC, a managed affiliate of GDIT, the $553 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract. It includes a base period of nine years with one option year.

“We are honored to continue our work with NOAA and support this critical element of their computing infrastructure,” said Senior Vice President Paul Nedzbala, head of GDIT’s Federal Civilian Division. “GDIT brings extensive experience delivering high-performance computing services to a large and diverse portfolio of government customers. This contract will further enhance NOAA’s supercomputing resources and support their critical mission, which includes improving weather and hurricane forecast models.”

CSRA LLC was awarded the initial contract on May 7, 2010. The new contract was signed on June 14, 2018, with a period of performance through June 13, 2028. Under the IDIQ contract, GDIT, through its affiliate CSRA LLC, will provide the labor, materials, high performance computing (HPC) components (e.g. equipment, software, facilities support) and technical expertise required to operate, maintain and enhance NOAA’s R&D HPCS.

This award reinforces GDIT’s core capability as a prime systems integrator for government high-performance computing programs. GDIT supports high-performance computing programs for multiple civilian, defense and intelligence community agencies. GDIT’s vendor relationships and specialized high performance computing solution architects provide government customers with effective price-to-performance hardware and software to support their missions.
